STONY BROOK, N.Y., March 6, 2024 – The Stony Brook Cancer Center is proud to partner once again with our longtime friend Edward Strohm, Executive Director of The Strohm Foundation in the fight against cancer.

As the successor organization to the Three Strohm Sisters Family Foundation, this relationship dates back to 2008. The Three Strohm Sisters were early fundraisers for breast cancer research, but the organization also funded multiple projects in pursuit of the elimination of all forms of cancer.

The Family Foundation gradually expanded from a locally focused, grassroots level to a non-profit organization that was internationally recognized. It was composed of and supported by a diverse body of individuals, from around the world.

Edward Strohm shares “the support from The Strohm Foundation donors allows us to encourage global scientific cooperation which results in shared medical advances and lifesaving breakthroughs that benefit all human beings”.

“It’s through the generosity of many supporters that has enabled us to make sizable research grants.”

Stony Brook Cancer Center is grateful to be one of their many beneficiaries. Thank you to the Strohm Foundation for allowing us to continue to fund this critical research each year.

Stony Brook Cancer Center is an integral part of Stony Brook Medicine, Long Island’s premier academic medical center. Stony Brook Medicine integrates and elevates all of Stony Brook University’s health-related initiatives: education, research and patient care.
Stony Brook Cancer Center’s facility — the Medical and Research Translation (MART) building — was intentionally designed to bring together cancer researchers and clinical investigators in close physical proximity to effortlessly join forces in collaborating and focusing on important cancer problems. Their overall goal is to build the most comprehensive, integrated and unified team with the purpose of investigating, discovering and driving innovation in cancer treatment and prevention.
